LRA Galleries
Looking for places to exhibit your work? Our five galleries are open to all members and operate on a 3-month
rotation basis. Members may exhibit their artistry and offer works for sale. Four are located in retirement facilities
in Roanoke: Brandon Oaks, Elm Park, Park Oak Grove and the Roanoke United Methodist Home.Our fifth location
is in the Vinton Municipal Building. By clicking on each gallery name you will go to the information page about it.
The gallery chairman and coordinators devote much time and effort to provide opportunities for members
to get their work in front of the public. These venues are a complement to whatever other opportunities
members seek out on their own to promote their art.

Showcase of the Arts
The League's premier exhibit is the Fall Showcase, held in September and October of each year. In recent years, it has been
displayed at the Jefferson Center. This gives the artists a wonderful place to display their work, while giving visitors to the
Jefferson Center an opportunity to view local artwork. Art sales from this show not only benefit the artists, but a percentage
of each sale goes to support the Jefferson Center.
For the past twenty-six years LRA has sponsored this annual event. In 2011 there were one hundred forty six works of art from seventy-nine artists using acrylic, oil, pastel, photography, sculpture, watercolor, and other media to express their unique visions. The judge for our 26th showcase was Taliaferro Logan. She is the director of Olin Galleries a Roanoke College and oversees the Olin and Smoyer Galleries exhibition schedules as well as Roanoke College's Permanent Art Collection. Ms. Logan is a native of the Roanoke valley and a practicing artist herself. She received her BFA from Virginia Commonwealth University and her MFA from the Art Institute of Chicago.The award winning works chosen by Ms. Logan will be featured in the coming year on this website.
